# 1 news feature...

NAMM HAPPENS THIS WEEK

The annual "NAMM SHOW," the biggest music trade show in the world, returns this week for its four-day run. It occupies the entire Anaheim Convention Center, including the basketball arena, plus every bit of the convention and meeting spaces in all the surrounding mega-hotel complexes. It's a very big deal, and all the instrument makers bring all their elite endorsed artists to perform in their booths. And "booths" doesn't quite convey the magnitude of the temporary multistory city that comprises the exhibition spaces on each of the cavernous levels.

The show itself is for music industry professionals only, and no guest badges are available.

However, a number of FREE publicly-accessible performances happen in the lobbies of the surrounding hotels, and tix are available for several evening concerts in large hotel banquet/meeting spaces.

BUT... Unless you are credentialed to attend, do NOT park at the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W Katella Av, Anaheim 92802. NAMM participants invest a lot of money to be there, and they need ALL the available expensive parking. So, if you're going only for the live music outside the NAMM Show, be good humans and park at Downtown Disney and walk.

BETTMAN & HALPIN RETURN TO L.A. & SAN DIEGO, JANUARY 28, 30, 31

Writing "from the frozen tundra that is Denver these days," fiddle maven and fine vocalist STEPHANIE BETTMAN, a former denizen of L.A., couldn't resist saying,  "As I look out my window, it looks COLD. The sky is gray, the trees are skeletons, and everything is still covered in snow from a week ago."

Thus, she and music partner LUKE HALPIN are especially looking forward to this return and the three shows they will play.

Stephanie adds, "Luke and I have been learning some new songs for the upcoming shows. We are very excited to share them with you - and to share our cellist and percussionist! You're gonna love them!"

They're playing Pepperdine University's Wegner Center in Malibu on Jan. 28th at 8 pm,  and the Haugh Center for the Performing Arts at Citrus College on Jan. 31st at 2 pm. In between, they head south for a 6 pm Home Concert in San Diego on Jan. 30st (contact Sally right away at 619-225-9005). All three shows are on their website at:
